Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh killed two education volunteers (Shiksha Doots) in separate incidents across Bijapur district and destroyed a telecommunications tower in Narayanpur district, officials confirmed today. The attacks mark a concerning tactical shift as security forces intensify counterinsurgency operations in the region.
According to police reports, armed Maoists abducted Vinod Made, a government-appointed education volunteer, from Pailur village before executing him in a nearby forest. In a similar attack under Farsegarh police jurisdiction, another educator was forcibly taken from Tekameta village and killed. Authorities note that fear of retaliation delayed reporting of both incidents by local families.
In a coordinated strike against communication networks, insurgents set fire to a Jio mobile tower in Madhonar village, approximately 6 kilometers from Chhotedongar in Narayanpur district. The late night arson attack has disrupted cellular services in the area, with security teams currently conducting search operations to locate the perpetrators.
“These attacks reflect the Maoists’ strategic adaptation to increasing pressure from security operations,” explained a senior police official speaking on condition of anonymity. “With direct engagements becoming riskier, they’re shifting to softer targets and symbolic infrastructure attacks.”
The violence follows killing of two surrendered Maoists and three civilians in Bijapur’s Podakkorma village, part of an emerging pattern of small unit attacks across the region.
Security analysts suggest the attacks specifically target symbols of government outreach, with education volunteers and communication infrastructure representing the state’s growing presence in traditionally Maoist dominated areas. The incidents occur despite significant security gains, including last month’s successful operation in Sukma district that neutralized five high-ranking insurgents.
Local administrators emphasize their commitment to continuing development programs. “These cowardly acts won’t deter our efforts to bring education and connectivity to every village,” stated a senior official.
Security forces have intensified search operations in affected areas while maintaining their focus on ongoing counterinsurgency operations. Officials confirm that forensic teams are processing both crime scenes as investigations continue.
