Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday hailed the Union Government’s decision to slash the prices of 37 essential medicines by 10 to 15 percent, terming it a “transformative step” that will significantly improve access to affordable healthcare across the country.
He expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this people-centric initiative.
In a statement issued on Monday, Chief Minister Sai said, “A healthy India is the foundation of a developed India. This move by Prime Minister Modi reaffirms his commitment to prioritizing public health and easing the financial burden on millions of families.” The price reduction covers widely used life-saving medicines, including Paracetamol, Atorvastatin, and Amoxicillin, which are critical in treating common yet serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, infections, fever, and pain.
Highlighting the impact on Chhattisgarh, a predominantly tribal and rural state, the Chief Minister said the decision would be especially beneficial for the poor, farmers, labourers, senior citizens, and women. “This is a step that directly touches the lives of the most vulnerable sections of society,” he added.
CM Sai also emphasized that the state government is proactively expanding the network of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras and ensuring the effective implementation of flagship schemes like Ayushman Bharat, aimed at providing quality healthcare services at minimal cost. He concluded by stating, “This is not merely a reduction in prices, but a decisive stride toward building a healthier and more empowered India. The Centre’s focus on affordable healthcare is a testament to its inclusive governance and long-term vision for public welfare.”
