Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday extended greetings to the people of the state on the eve of National Voters’ Day and National Tourism Day, underlining the centrality of informed citizenship and responsible tourism in strengthening democracy and economic growth.
In his message, marking National Voters’ Day on January 25, the chief minister said the occasion reaffirms India’s democratic foundations, constitutional values and the role of citizens in safeguarding electoral integrity. He noted that India’s democratic strength lies in widespread participation and a credible electoral system recognised across the world.
Sai emphasised that the right to vote is not merely a legal entitlement but a fundamental civic obligation linked to nation building. He urged all eligible citizens, especially first-time voters who have attained the age of 18, to enrol in the electoral rolls and exercise their franchise in every election with awareness and responsibility. Each vote, he said, contributes to shaping a strong, inclusive and accountable democracy.
Extending his greetings on National Tourism Day, the Chief Minister described tourism as a key driver of economic development and a powerful means of showcasing Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes and historical assets to a wider audience. He said the sector plays a significant role in generating employment and supporting livelihoods, particularly in rural and tribal regions.
Sai said National Tourism Day highlights the importance of promoting tourism in a sustainable and responsible manner. Calling for collective participation, he appealed to citizens to contribute to the conservation and promotion of the state’s tourism resources, adding that public awareness and stewardship are essential to positioning Chhattisgarh as a vibrant and sustainable destination on the national and global map.
