In a major political development ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has reaffirmed her party’s decision to contest the elections independently, without forming any alliances.

The BSP held an intensive two-day review meeting in Lucknow with senior party officials to finalize the party’s election strategy, including the selection of candidates and planning of organizational programs. During the high-level meetings that concluded on Sunday, she reviewed the party’s preparations at all levels and discussed the roadmap for the months leading up to the elections.

Emphasizing self-reliance, she approved a comprehensive plan for a statewide campaign, which includes a series of rallies, public meetings, and outreach programs starting early next month.

Party officials have been instructed to rectify existing organizational shortcomings and dedicate themselves fully, in terms of effort, resources, and commitment, to ensure a strong performance in the elections. Key responsibilities for the execution of the campaign have been assigned to BSP’s National Coordinator Akash Anand, Central Coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam, and the BSP Bihar State Unit.

Recognizing Bihar’s vast and complex political landscape, the state has been divided into three zones, with senior party leaders tasked with overseeing each zone to ensure better coordination and ground-level mobilization.

In the meeting, BSP leaders expressed confidence in improving the party’s performance in the neighbouring state, especially in light of rapidly changing political dynamics and electoral equations in the state.

Mayawati also referenced similar preparations already underway in Odisha and Telangana, where the party is replicating its Uttar Pradesh model, focusing on forming committees from district to polling booth level and expanding grassroots support.
