BJP national general secretary and MP Arun Singh on Thursday wrapped up a one-day visit to Jharkhand with a call to make the upcoming Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign a mass movement rooted in swadeshi. Singh inaugurated a youth wing blood donation camp, planted trees, viewed a photo exhibition on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and addressed a party workshop where leaders including Babulal Marandi, Dr. Ravindra Kumar Rai, and Karmveer Singh outlined plans for the three-month drive beginning September 25.

Singh stressed that India’s path to self-reliance lies in strengthening swadeshi products and local enterprise. He linked the campaign to broader reforms, praising the recent GST rate cuts as a measure that would bring relief to farmers, the poor, and rural households. He argued that the initiative would accelerate India’s rise toward becoming the world’s second or third largest economy.

Scheduled from Deendayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary on 25 September to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s anniversary on 25 December, the campaign has been framed as a symbolic “second independence struggle,” this time for economic freedom. BJP leaders said the drive would combine ideological conviction with grassroots mobilization through swadeshi fairs, exhibitions, cultural programmes, and local outreach.

In Jharkhand, the party is projecting the campaign as a people’s movement. State BJP president and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi urged workers to become “ambassadors of swadeshi” and carry the message of self-reliance to every household. State organization general secretary Karmveer Singh detailed plans for door-to-door campaigns, signature drives, professional conferences, and competitions in schools and colleges to spread the message across districts.

Singh’s visit, which also featured symbolic social programmes, underscored the party’s effort to rally its cadre around a mix of economic messaging and ideological symbolism. Senior leaders including Aditya Sahu and Vikas Pritam joined the workshop, signaling organizational unity behind the campaign.
