The BJP will celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday by organising an over two-week-long ‘seva pakhwara’ (service fortnight) across the country from September 17 to October 2.

The prime minister was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar in Gujarat. To mark the occasion, various welfare activities will be held during the ‘seva pakhwada’ across the country, which will begin on September 17 and continue till October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

BJP’s Yuva Morcha (youth wing) is also set to organise ‘Namo Yuva run’ across 75 cities with more than 10 thousand participants in each rally.

Addressing a joint press conference, along with Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Tejasvi Surya at BJP headquarters here on Sunday, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “From September 17 to October 2, from the prime minister’s birthday till Gandhiji’s birthday, for 15 days, the country and the BJP organises a seva pakhwada.”

“In 11 years, PM Modi has given a lot to the nation through his work, and thoughts. Today, the nation is going forward, developing and a new India is being constructed. PM Modi had told the country from the Red Fort that when the country was fighting for independence, the motherland was asking for sacrifice then the youth did not hesitate to give their lives. They went to the noose and fulfilled their duty,” Mandaviya added.

Speaking about ‘Namo Yuva run’, the Union minister mentioned that lakhs of people have registered through the ‘MyBharat’ platform to participate in the run which will be organized across 75 cities, giving a message of de-addiction and working towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ for the youth.

“Through this run, the youth will be connected to the soil. The youth will remember the duty done by PM Modi in the last 11 years. To prove the vision of Viksit Bharat, it is important to have proper fitness, that is why Fit India’s message will also be given. Swadeshi’s (local) message will also be given,” he said.

The Union minister also praised the ‘next generation’ Goods and Services Tax (GST) reform which will be implemented on September 22.

Calling it a ‘Diwali gift’ by PM Modi to the people, he said, “In the last few days, a big gift has been given to the nation. What is seen as good governance? Before 2014, before Modi became prime minister, there were a lot of taxes, VAT, excise, there were around 18 types of taxes. In the form of ‘One Nation One Tax’, Modi simplified the taxes and reduced taxes too.”

The BJYM launched a nationwide initiative to promote the message of fitness and social awareness – the ‘Namo Yuva Run’ campaign on Sunday.

Supermodel and fitness icon Milind Soman was named the ambassador for the campaign, which coincides with the celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17.

Milind Soman, along with BJP MP Tejasvi Surya and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, was present at the launch.

To mark the prime minister’s birthday, the BJYM will organise Namo Yuva Runs in 75 cities across India. Each run will see the participation of 10,000-15,000 youth, totalling nearly 1 million young people running simultaneously — a feat that BJYM President and MP Tejasvi Surya said would be recorded as the country’s biggest and most participative run.

The campaign aims to promote fitness, de-addiction, and the spirit of Swadeshi.

“On 17th September, it’s PM Modi’s 75th birthday. Perhaps there is no bigger icon for fitness, good health, and inspiration for the youth of the country than our Prime Minister. To mark his 75th birthday, the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha is organising ‘Namo Yuva Run’ at 75 locations in the country, with participation of 10,000 to 15,0000 youths in every location. In total, 1 million youths will run at the same time at 75 locations all over the country,” Surya said at the press conference.
