BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of creating confusion in the minds of voters by questioning the conduct of the Election Commission with regard to the recent special intensive revision exercise in poll-bound Bihar.

“Opposition leaders are lying to the country. They should either provide proof or apologize for the way they are trying to mislead the voters,” he told media persons here.

The MP further said that the Election Commission is constantly asking for affidavits from them. But, they are making serious allegations against someone just for political gain.

“The Election Commission is a constitutional institution. They are trying to weaken that constitutional institution. It is because of the Election Commission that Akhilesh Yadav has become an MP today. Rahul Gandhi should not embarrass the country… It is because of the same Election Commission that his party’s government is in Himachal, Karnataka, and Telangana today,” he said.

“I challenge them that if they have any proof of the confusion being spread in the country on the issue of SIR, they should either present it before the Speaker of the Parliament or give it to the Election Commission whom they are blaming. Otherwise they should not embarrass the country,” he demanded.
