Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday claimed that Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has two Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers in two different assembly constituencies.
According to Yadav, Sinha has EPIC numbers in the Lakhi Sarai assembly constituency in Lakhi Sarai district and from the Bankipur assembly constituency in Patna district.
Moreover, the age on both EPIC cards is also different. In the Bankipur EPIC card, Sinha’s age is shown as 60 years, while in the Lakhi Sarai EPIC, his age is 57 years.
“He has two different ages in both places. In one place, their age is years, while in the other, it is years,” Yadav said, asking, “Is this not fraud and an age scam?”
Sharing the Bihar deputy CM’s two different EPIC cards on X, the RJD leader also trained the gun at the Election Commission of India, asking he was deliberately allowed to register himself in two different constituencies.
“They have filled out two different enumeration forms in two different assembly constituencies. They have signed both different enumeration forms. In other words, they deliberately got two votes registered in two different places,” Yadav said.,
He asked, “If they did not personally sign both enumeration forms, did the Election Commission create two different votes for them in two different assembly constituencies based on forged signatures?”
He further sought to know if Sinha’s name had also appeared in the draft lists of two different assembly constituencies.
“Did the Election Commission deliberately register votes for BJP supporters in this pattern? How did the Election Commission include their name in the draft lists of both places?” the RJD leader asked.
Tejashwi also questioned the poll panel whether it will issue notices to Sinha or if its rules are only for the Opposition.
Following Yadav’s allegations, Sinha admitted his name was listed in Patna.
“Earlier, my entire family’s name was listed in Patna. In April 2024, I applied to add my name to the Lakhisarai Assembly. I also filled out a form to have my name removed from there. I have proof,” Sinha was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Poll panel issues notice to Sinha
After Tejashwi Yadav raised the issue, the Electoral Registration Officer, Bankipur Assembly Constituency issued a notice to Sinha, asking for his explanation.
It also confirmed that his name was indeed listed in two different assembly constituency.
“As per the available records, it has been found that in the Electoral Roll published on 01.07.2025, your name appears in two different places. In the Electoral Roll of 182 – Bankipur Assembly Constituency, at polling station no. 405, voter list serial no. 757, EPIC No. AFS0853341. In the Electoral Roll of 168 – Lakhisarai Assembly Constituency, Lakhisarai, at EPIC No. IAF3939337,” the notice stated.
