Upset over not given any seat to contest in the Bihar assembly polls, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an NDA constituent in Uttar Pradesh, is set to contest alone or with other like-minded parties in the upcoming elections in the state.
Speaking to the media on Monday, SBSP chief and UP’s Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar announced that his party will contest 153 seats in the Bihar assembly polls.
Isolated in the seat-sharing negotiations in Bihar by NDA, Rajbhar met UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Sunday. This was the first time he had met Pathak since his illness.
Sources hinted that Pathak has been acting as the coordinator between Rajbhar and the BJP. However, this time, Rajbhar has shown a rebellious attitude after things failed to work out.
“The Prajapati, Rajbhar, and Rajbanshi have a vast population in Bihar. So, we will form a front and fight there. We trusted the BJP leaders, spoke to Dharmendra Pradhan and others, and everyone gave us assurances. But they ditched us by not giving us even a single seat.
“SBSP is currently ready to contest the elections in Bihar alone. Still we are in talks with like-minded parties for a front but our party is ready to contest 153 seats,” he said.
The NDA yesterday announced seat sharing for Bihar Assembly elections, in which BJP has been given 101 seats, Janata Dal United (JDU) 101 seats, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) 29 seats and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) have been given 6 seats each.
