Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav informed on Wednesday that, taking inspiration from Madhya Pradesh, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi has decided to refer to Vice-Chancellors as ‘Kulguru’.
Addressing ministers before the state Cabinet meeting in Bhopal, Dr Yadav said that this innovation, initiated by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, has now been adopted by JNU as well. He noted that ‘Kulguru’ is a term deeply rooted in Indian tradition.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the removal of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in the state has resulted in a 70 per cent reduction in fatalities and a 51 per cent decrease in road accidents.
Referring to a recent report, Dr Yadav said that the decision to dismantle BRTS in January 2024 has yielded significant positive results. Its successful implementation, he noted, reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare.
Dr Yadav further announced that financial assistance of ₹1,250 per beneficiary under the Laadli Behna Yojana will be transferred to recipients’ bank accounts on July 12.
He added that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan next month, an additional ₹250 in special assistance will be provided to each beneficiary along with the regular monthly amount. This move is expected to directly benefit approximately 1.27 crore women in the state.
Sharing details of his visit to Ludhiana on July 7, the Chief Minister said the trip aimed to attract investments to Madhya Pradesh. As a result, the state received investment proposals worth ₹15,606 crore, with the potential to generate over 20,275 new jobs.
Dr Yadav also directed ministers to visit their respective districts and ensure the completion of constituency-wise vision documents within 10 days, as part of the state government’s Vision 2023 initiative. He instructed that relevant developmental plans be included in the upcoming budget and implemented accordingly.
