In a world increasingly fractured by conflict and division, a message of peace, restraint, and shared humanity took centrestage on Tuesday as Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha invoked the timeless teachings of Lord Mahavira to call for unity and introspection.

Addressing a gathering at the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak celebrations organised here by the S.S. Jain Sabha, Sinha stressed that humanity must turn to the principles of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Anekantavada (respect for diverse viewpoints) at a time when global tensions threaten stability and harmony.
He underscored that the teachings of Lord Mahavira — rooted in right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct — hold the key to building a compassionate and peaceful world. “Today’s world urgently needs brotherhood and empathy. These values are not optional but essential,” he said.

Highlighting India’s global stance, the Lieutenant Governor credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for projecting a vision where peace is seen as strength rather than weakness. He noted that the country continues to inspire the world with its message of courage, cooperation, and bridge-building over conflict.

Calling for collective responsibility, Sinha said true progress stems from accountability and mutual understanding. He urged people to bridge divides by embracing diverse cultures, ideas, and experiences, thereby strengthening trust in society.

Reflecting on Mahavira’s emphasis on self-discipline and inner transformation, he said values like truth, non-possession, restraint, and awareness are vital for both personal growth and nation-building. “The character we cultivate determines the impact we create,” he remarked.

In a special appeal to the youth, the Lieutenant Governor called for adopting non-violence not just in action but in thought, while also redefining humanity’s relationship with nature. He observed that true Ahimsa extends beyond ethics and can serve as a powerful strategy for environmental conservation.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated the achievers from diverse fields.

Among those present were Suneel Jain, President, SS Jain Sabha; Devki Nandan, Jain, Vice President and other members of SS Jain Sabha, Jammu, prominent citizens and people from different walks.
