The ongoing dispute between police officers and lawyers in Varanasi is now taking a political turn. Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding his intervention in the matter.
Sharing the letter on his social media account on Saturday, Ajay Rai wrote, “Kashi is my family, and I stand like a rock for my family. I have written a letter to the Prime Minister to resolve the dispute between lawyers and police. I appeal for his immediate intervention.”
In his letter, Rai demanded that the central and state governments immediately intervene and initiate a dialogue between lawyers, the police administration, and judicial officials. He demanded strict and impartial action against those responsible for the attacks and abusive behavior against lawyers. He also appealed for guarantees of respect and security for lawyers to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
