A Mumbai-bound Air India flight was forced to make an emergency landing within 18 minutes of take-off at the Sanganer International Airport here following a technical snag on Friday afternoon.
According to airport sources, the Air India flight AI-612 was scheduled to take off for Mumbai at 01:35 pm. However, the plane took off at 01:58 pm.
A few minutes after take-off, the pilots noticed a technical snag in the plane and immediately contacted the ATC at the airport to seek clearance for an emergency landing.
After obtaining clearance from the ATC, the plane landed at 02:16 pm, with necessary precautions in place for an emergency landing.
Soon after landing, aviation engineers and experts examined the aircraft and addressed the snag. The entire exercise took almost two hours. During this time, the passengers remained seated and waited for the repair work to be completed and for clearance to take off.
After the repairs were completed, the plane took off again at 04:11 pm, the sources said.
