Acharya Balkrishna, co-founder of Patanjali and a strong advocate of yoga and Ayurveda, says it is a “joyful moment” to represent India on a global stage.

Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote that being at the Moscow International Book Fair not only as an author but also as a representative of yoga and Ayurveda was an experience made possible by the blessings of Swami Ramdev, the love of millions of Indians, and the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also thanked Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the National Book Trust (NBT) for their tireless efforts in making this happen.

This year, India is the guest of honour country at the 38th Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF). It began on Wednesday at Moscow’s historic Soviet-era VDNKh exhibition grounds.

India takes the central pavilion for the five-day event that runs until September 7.

The Indian pavilion has been designed with the theme “Read and Explore India”. It is a vibrant showcase of India’s vast literary and cultural heritage. More than 2,500 books in Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, and other regional languages are being displayed.

Many children’s books have also been translated into Russian, allowing young readers to discover Indian stories in their own language.

Ambassador Vinay Kumar inaugurated the pavilion and spoke about India’s fast-growing economy and its deep-rooted reading culture. He highlighted that India, with its annual growth rate of 7.5–8 per cent, is not only an economic powerhouse but also a land of knowledge and ideas.
