The 32 years of excellence was marked by an event through the All India Conference, Convocation and Award giving Ceremony of Surnandan Bharati at Indumati Sabhagriha, Kolkata, in association with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The programme was unveiled with the inaugural song by the vocalist of Kolkata, Jaba Mukhopadhyay and her students.
This was followed by the inaugural conference conducted by Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, erstwhile Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Ritish Ranjan Chakraborty, All India President of Surnandan Bharati, gave the opening speech.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards went to eminent footballer and vocalist Sukumar Samajpati, Kolkata, along with eminent elocutionist Indrani Chakraborty, Dharmanagar, Tripura, Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, Pt. Mallar Ghosh (Tabla maestro, Kolkata), Kalyan Sen Barat (eminent composer), Santi Binod Das (musician, Kolkata), Chitra Roy (Vice President of Agartala Press Club), Amit Dutta (cultural artist of Nagaon, Assam), Supriya Swabant (dancer, Goa), and Swapna Anand Soni (Dancer, Gujarat).
The Sangeetnandan Award was presented to eminent composer Kalyan Sen Barat, Kolkata, by Prof. Pabitra Sarkar and Pt. Mallar Ghosh. The best Centre-in-Charge trophy was given to Santi Binod Das, Principal of Art N Music, Kolkata. The Best Student of the Year 2025 award was received by Megha Das, a student of Binapani Kala Khetra, Guwahati, Assam, in memory of Nandita Mazumder, wife of Artist Dr Pradip Mazumder of Nagaon, Assam.
The book inauguration roped in such works as ‘The Tripura Police’, penned by Pradyot Bhaumik, Tripura, launched by Prof. Pabitra Sarkar. The other books launched ‘Rabisurnandan’ authored by Ritish Ranjan Chakraborty, Kolkata, presented by Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, ‘Tabla Sikshar Hat Puthi’ penned by tabla maestro Pt. Kalyan Deka, Assam, presented by Pt. Mallar Ghosh, a special issue of ‘Ra Patrika’ on Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta was presented by Kalyan Sen Barat.
Among other awards, Lifetime Achievement Award was accorded to eminent Homeopath Dr. Rabin Barma, Belgharia, Kolkata), Singer Rupali Guha (Nagaon, Assam), The Chitranandan Award was presented to Artist Jogen Das (Baksa, Assam) coupled with other artistes Biju Tahbildar (Nalbari, Assam) and Himadri Sinha (Agartala, Tripura) and, listed for the Chitrasaraswati Awards were artists Arijita Das, Kolkata, Abdul Wadud (Lakshmikantapur, 24 Parganas (S), West Bengal), Paban Roy (Deoghar, Jharkhand), Pinaki Bose (Rourkela, Odisha), Sharmistha Dasgupta (Shillong, Meghalaya), Dhrubajyoti Sarma Baruah (Bebejia, Nagaon, Assam) and Shilpi Dev (Silchar, Assam).
The Sangeetnandan Award went to vocalist Artist Chandan Narayan Dev (Guwahati, Assam), Musician Ratul Kakoty (Sivasagar, Assam), Singer Sharmistha Das Chaki (Silchar, Assam), Musician Nilutpal Singh (Guwahati, Assam) and Vocalist Phalguni Chakraborty (Lumding, Assam).
Other Awardees Singer Santa Deb, New Delhi, was presented the Rabisreenandan Award, Dipa Das, Kolkata, received the Nazrulsangeet Nandan Award for her skills as a Nazrulsangeet exponent. The Sangeetratna Award went to vocalist Rubul Sharma, Diphu, Assam; guitarist Raghunath Banerjee, Howrah, West Bengal; and singer-composer Pradip Bora, Nagaon, Assam.
Artists from different states of India attended and participated at the awards for excellence in the various fields. The special feature of the cultural event was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to the eminent Rabindrasangeet vocalist Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta from Kolkata by Pt. Mallar Ghosh (HOD, Tabla, Surnandan Bharati) and Dr. Sukamal Das (All India Working President, Surnandan Bharati).
A book on the occasion “Nandane Munmun” penned by Kanko Ghosh Dastidar and Ritish Ranjan Chakraborty was inaugurated by Swagatalakshmi, followed by her speech and melodious song, concluding the session with the recitation of a self composed poem.
