After nearly a decade, Disney’s hit animated film ‘Zootopia’ is finally getting a sequel, and fans couldn’t be more excited. The trailer for ‘Zootopia 2’ has just been released, giving us our first look at what Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have been up to since we last saw them in 2016.

In the new movie, Judy, the determined rabbit cop, and Nick, the clever fox with a shady past, are back together, but things have changed. This time, the story goes deeper into their friendship.

The trailer, which runs for a little over two minutes, opens in an unexpected setting: a therapy session. Judy and Nick are shown sitting awkwardly in a group session for work partners who just can’t seem to get along. Their usual teasing and sarcastic banter are back, but there’s also a hint of real tension.

The main plot follows the duo as they have an assignment to solve a strange new case in Zootopia. The suspect? A snake named Gary De’Snake, who is not only a reptile in a city of mammals but also a mysterious figure with a reputation that keeps the city buzzing.

Gary has voice of Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, known for ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. Director Jared Bush said they picked Quan for his amazing energy, which they saw when he appeared on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

Bush, who also co-directed the original ‘Zootopia’, returns for the sequel alongside Byron Howard. The two are working with producer Yvett Merino to bring this new chapter to life.

Fans will be happy to know that many of the original voice actors are back, including Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy, Jason Bateman as Nick, and pop icon Shakira as Gazelle.

And yes, Shakira has recorded a brand-new song for the film.

‘Zootopia 2’ will also introduce new characters and parts of the city we’ve never seen before. Comedian Fortune Feimster joins the cast as Nibbles Maplestick, a beaver who loves conspiracy theories and lives in a new area called Marsh Market.

Quinta Brunson, the Emmy-winning star of ‘Abbott Elementary’, plays Dr. Fuzzby, a cheerful quokka therapist who tries to help Nick and Judy work through their issues after an undercover mission goes terribly wrong.

In a fun surprise, French actor Jean Reno, best known for his role in ‘Leon: The Professional’, makes a cameo as a no-nonsense French goat cop.

Mark your calendars. ‘Zootopia 2’ will release in theatres on November 26, 2025.
