Zendaya has admitted that she may have misread Robert Pattinson when they first met. The actress recently spoke about her early impression of the Twilight star and how her fiancé, Tom Holland, saw a completely different side of him.

“I thought you were mysterious”

Zendaya and Pattinson, who are working together on their new film The Drama, spoke about their first meeting during a conversation with Interview magazine.

She told Pattinson that when they were introduced through common friends, he seemed quiet and reserved. “You were always pretty quiet and chill,” she said, adding that she found him mysterious because he didn’t say much.

But when she later mentioned this to Tom Holland, his reaction surprised her. Tom reportedly told her that Pattinson is actually “super fun” and always laughing and joking.

Zendaya admitted she hadn’t experienced that version of him at the time.

Pattinson’s response

Pattinson responded in his usual dry humour. He joked that staying mysterious never really works for him. He said he has realised that when he stays quiet, people think he’s intimidating, but he can’t keep up that act for long.

Zendaya laughed and replied that he did manage to maintain that mysterious vibe for a while, at least until they worked on a few films together.

Working together this year

Zendaya and Pattinson are sharing screen space in three films this year, The Drama, Dune: Part Three, and The Odyssey. Interestingly, The Odyssey also stars Tom Holland.

Holland and Pattinson go way back. The two actors appeared together in the 2020 Netflix drama The Devil All the Time and have remained close friends.

In a past interview with GQ, Holland had said he loves Pattinson “to death” and considers him a good friend.

A new chapter for Zendaya and Holland

As per People magazine, Zendaya and Holland got engaged in January 2025, four years after confirming their relationship publicly.

Now, with films, friendships, and wedding plans all in the mix, it seems the trio’s bond is stronger than ever mysterious first impressions aside.
