Singer Zanai Bhosle took to social media with an outpouring of grief for her grandmother, the legendary Asha Bhosle. She posted a bunch of old photos alongside notes that were raw, personal, and clearly written from the heart — capturing everything from her love and loss to the memories she’s holding onto.
Fans didn’t take long to respond, flooding the post with condolences and their own memories of the singer.
Old photos, real moments
The pictures Zanai chose weren’t staged or formal — just ordinary, warm snapshots of the two of them together over the years. In one, they’re both laughing and clapping at what looks like a family function. “I love you my darling.. I love you,” Zanai wrote under it.
In another, Zanai is bent over her grandmother’s chair, arms around her, while Asha smiles up at the camera. Nothing posed about it — just two people who clearly adored each other.
“You come in my dreams”
The caption that went with the photos hit harder than the pictures themselves. Zanai wrote that she sees her grandmother everywhere she looks now, and that Asha still visits her in dreams — that she’s not just part of her past but her present and future too. She admitted she misses the hugs, the kisses, that unconditional love nothing else quite replaces.
She closed by asking her grandmother to “be happy up there,” saying happiness was one of the biggest things Asha ever taught her. Zanai added that she is who she is because of her grandmother, and that Asha will always be woven into her life, one way or another.
How Asha Bhosle passed
Asha Bhosle died on April 12, 2026, in Mumbai. She was 92. She’d been in Breach Candy Hospital dealing with extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, and doctors said multiple organ failure ultimately took her life.
Her funeral was held with full state honours at Shivaji Park, where family, old colleagues, and fans turned up to say goodbye. Zanai, who everyone knew was especially close to her grandmother, broke down during the rites — a moment that stuck with a lot of people who were there.
A voice that shaped Indian music for decades
It’s hard to overstate what Asha Bhosle meant to Indian music. Her career ran more than eight decades, and she’s said to have recorded over 12,000 songs across 20-plus languages — numbers that are almost impossible to wrap your head around.
Some of her biggest, most unforgettable songs: ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’, ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’, ‘Yeh Mera Dil’, ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’, ‘Mera Kuch Samaan’, ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’, ‘Rangeela Re’, ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’, and ‘Tanha Tanha’.
She also stepped into acting later in life, making her debut in the Marathi film ‘Mai’ back in 2013.
