A film titled ‘Yadav Ji ki Love Story’ has walked straight into controversy, and the heat is rising fast in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district.
From protests to an FIR, this love story has suddenly turned into a full-blown public debate. And yes, the gossip mill is already buzzing: Will the film even release now?
What the controversy is about
The film, which appears to revolve around a romantic plot involving a girl from the Yadav community, has angered members of that very community. According to them, the story shown in the movie presents their daughter and their community in a way they strongly disagree with.
The opposition has become serious enough that an FIR has now been filed against four key people connected to the movie; producer Sandeep Tomar, director Ankit Bhadana, actress Pragati Tiwari, and actor Vishal Mohan.
The complaint was lodged by Arvind Kumar, a resident of Bhakrauli village. He didn’t go alone. More than two dozen people accompanied him to submit a written complaint at the police station in Gunnaur tehsil on Wednesday.
Their demand? Stop the release of the film immediately.
They claim the movie hurts the sentiments of the Yadav community and does not reflect their history or identity correctly.
“This is not our story,” says community
A spokesperson from the protesting group gave a strongly worded statement. He claimed that the Yadav community has always been known for bravery and honesty, and the story shown in the film allegedly misrepresents that legacy.
He also raised a legal point, saying that no one has permission to make a film using the name of any community or religion, referring to a Supreme Court decision that, according to him, came before the film’s release.
The spokesperson further objected to actress Pragati Tiwari playing the role of a Yadav daughter in the movie.
Interestingly, he added that the community is currently holding back from large-scale action but warned that patience has limits.
Release date now hanging in the air
As of now, there is no clarity on whether the film will release as planned. What is clear, though, is that discussions, protests, and heated debates are spreading across the region.
The film’s fate now depends not just on box office buzz, but also on legal and social developments.
This controversy arrives right when another film, Ghuskhor Pandit, is already facing backlash from the Brahmin community. That parallel has only made things more sensitive.
