Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations held at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, he praised the Himalayan state for its remarkable journey of growth.
PM Modi lauded Uttarakhand’s progress across tourism and wellness. Calling it a land blessed by nature and spirituality, he said that the state has the potential to become the “spiritual capital of the world.”
He encouraged the people and government of Uttarakhand to take full advantage of the global fascination with yoga, Ayurveda, and wellness tourism. “If Uttarakhand decides, it can establish itself as the spiritual capital of the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing demand for herbs and Ayurvedic medicines from Uttarakhand. He noted how the region’s natural bounty has helped it become a major player in India’s herbal and aromatic plant industry. He proposed that every assembly constituency should develop a complete wellness circuit combining yoga centers, Ayurveda hubs, naturopathy institutes to strengthen tourism and create jobs.
Beyond spirituality and health, PM Modi turned his attention to another booming sector; weddings and films. Praising the natural beauty of Uttarakhand, he said the state is quickly emerging as a favorite location for both film shoots and destination weddings.
Introducing his “Wed in India” campaign, PM Modi said, “Uttarakhand is becoming popular as a wedding destination. For ‘Wed in India,’ the state should be developed with world-class facilities. Five to seven major locations can be identified and transformed into premier wedding spots.”
He added that Uttarakhand’s new film policy has made shooting much easier, opening up fresh opportunities for filmmakers. “The world should see the beauty of Uttarakhand through films and celebrations,” he said.
