According to filings linked to the ongoing lawsuit, Swift privately expressed disdain for Baldoni while discussing the controversy surrounding the film and an anticipated New York Times exposé on the conflict.

‘Tiny violin’: Swift’s alleged message

In one of the messages cited, Swift reportedly told Lively, “I think this… knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin,” a remark widely interpreted as mocking Baldoni’s public stance amid the growing backlash.

The messages, though private, have now become part of the broader legal narrative as tensions surrounding the film spill into the courtroom.

Blake Lively’s earlier messages surface

The documents also reveal that Blake Lively had expressed her frustration with Baldoni much earlier. In a message sent to Swift a year prior, Lively allegedly referred to him as the “doofus director of my movie,” calling him a “clown” and mocking his ambitions by adding that he “thinks he’s a writer now.”

How the feud began

The feud traces back to creative and professional clashes during the making of It Ends With Us, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Multiple cast and crew members later accused Baldoni of inappropriate behaviour on set, allegations that he has denied.

According to court submissions released this week, severe creative disagreements escalated when Lively objected to Baldoni’s version of the film.

Creative control and conflicting cuts

In a sworn declaration, Lively claimed that Baldoni’s cut of the film stripped female characters of agency and portrayed the central abusive relationship in a manner she found deeply troubling.

As a result, she prepared her own cut of the movie, further intensifying tensions between the lead actor and the director.

Refusal to promote film together

The fallout continued beyond post-production. Lively refused to appear alongside Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath during the film’s promotional campaign, accusing them of attempting to damage her reputation in retaliation for raising concerns.

“They painted themselves as the victims and me as a bully,” Lively stated. “I was not willing to endorse Baldoni or Heath personally by appearing alongside or promoting the film with them.”

Legal battle heads to trial

Lively has since filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his publicist, and the film’s producers, alleging harassment and retaliation. The case is scheduled to go to trial on May 18.

Baldoni’s legal team has moved to dismiss the lawsuit, describing Lively’s complaints as “minor grievances.” A hearing on the motion is set to take place on Thursday, according to Variety.

With Taylor Swift’s private messages now entering the public domain, the dispute, once limited to behind-the-scenes tensions, has erupted into a high-profile legal and celebrity showdown.
