Just when fans thought the wedding countdown was still ticking, a new twist has emerged. Multiple reports say that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have already tied the knot in private, well before their massive Madison Square Garden celebration.

According to reports, the couple is believed to already be legally married, having said their vows quietly in front of a small circle of loved ones. One source close to the situation put it plainly, insisting the two are already husband and wife.

This comes even though the couple is still set to throw a massive public celebration at MSG on Friday, with more than 1,000 guests expected. A smaller rehearsal dinner for around 100 people is scheduled for Thursday as well.

What about the marriage license?

Here is where things get a little murky. New York State wedding licenses remain sealed, so there is no public record to confirm anything outright.

Security sources at Manhattan’s City Clerk’s Office, where couples need to obtain a $35 license to marry, told Page Six last week that there had been no sign of Swift applying for a license recently. They were confident they would know if she had.

For context, a New York marriage license stays valid for 60 days. There is also a mandatory 24 hour waiting period before a ceremony can legally take place, though couples can request a judicial waiver to skip that waiting period if needed.

Ahead of their celebrations, the couple has reportedly donated a combined $26 million to charity.

Engagement backstory

Swift and Kelce got engaged last August in the garden at Kelce’s mansion in Leawood, Kansas. Since then, speculation about their wedding plans has only grown, especially as visible preparations began ramping up around Madison Square Garden.

Adding another layer to the mystery, one source suggested the small private ceremony may have actually taken place in Tennessee. That location holds real significance for Swift, since she moved there at just 14 years old to pursue songwriting.

What Swift’s private jet reveals

A website that tracks Swift’s private jet activity has added fuel to the speculation. According to flight records, her plane made a notable series of stops last Sunday, each one landing in a city connected to the couple’s closest family members.

The jet departed from Nashville and flew first to Philadelphia, where Kelce’s father Ed lives. Philadelphia is also home to Kelce’s older brother Jason and his wife Kylie.

From there, the plane flew to Tampa, where Swift’s father Scott resides. It then made its way back to Nashville, where it stayed grounded until June 30, before finally heading toward New York City.
