Director Riyas Marath’s upcoming Malayalam crime thriller Anomie, starring Rahman and Bhavana in the lead roles, has reportedly become the first Indian film to use the advanced sound design software Sound Particles.
‘Anomie’ creates history with Sound Particles technology
According to the makers, the cutting-edge technology was previously in use in major Hollywood films, it has been employed to elevate the film’s immersive audio experience, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
Bhavana confirms the breakthrough
The film’s official Instagram handle recently shared a video featuring Bhavana, where the actress spoke about the technical milestone achieved by Anomie.
“In this movie, they have used the sound design software called Sound Particles. It is the first time in India that we are using it in a movie. They have used it in films like Weapons, Dune and Oppenheimer. The Sound Particles team has officially confirmed it. Anomie is definitely a theatrical experience,” Bhavana said.
Sound Particles is globally popular for its ability to create large-scale, realistic soundscapes and has been widely in use in high-profile international productions.
Release date update
Originally scheduled to hit theatres on January 30, Anomie will now release on February 6, the makers confirmed.
The delay has done little to dampen anticipation, with buzz around the film continuing to grow following the release of its teaser.
Teaser hints at a dark psychological chase
The teaser for Anomie opens with a chilling voiceover: “Everyone, everywhere wants to live. The rich wants to live. The poor wants to live. Nobody wants to die.”
As grim visuals of police officers flash on screen, another voiceover in Malayalam follows: “The only thing that man fears is death.”
Rahman portrays a police officer confronting an unseen antagonist, declaring, “You are a f***ing psychopath,” to which a distorted voice replies, “No, I am not.”
