The wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal was meant to be one of the happiest celebrations of the year. Instead, it turned into a dramatic, emotional, and deeply confusing weekend after the ceremony was suddenly put on hold just hours before the couple was supposed to take their pheras in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown.

Guests had already arrived, pre-wedding functions were done, the stage for their big day was all set. But by Sunday evening, everything changed. What followed was a series of unexpected events that left fans, guests, and even people at the venue unsure about what had really happened and what it meant for the couple’s future.

Wedding festivities began with joy

The celebrations started on Friday, November 21, with all the colour, music, and warmth you expect at a grand Indian wedding. Smriti and Palash’s sangeet and haldi ceremonies were held at a resort in Sangli. Videos from the events showed the couple dancing together on stage.

By Sunday, November 23, everything was prepared for the main wedding ceremony. The entire Indian women’s cricket team had reached Sangli.

Palash’s family, including his sister and singer Palak Muchhal, were also present.

Sudden health scare changes everything

But on Sunday afternoon, the mood completely shifted. Reports emerged that Smriti’s father, Shrinivasa Mandana, suddenly fell ill while having breakfast at the venue. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and admitted for observation.

Later that evening, Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, spoke to the media. He explained that Smriti was extremely close to her father, and she did not want to go ahead with the ceremony while he was unwell. Because of this, the wedding was indefinitely postponed.

Groom hospitalised after postponement

As the news spread, another surprising development came from Mumbai. Palash’s family immediately flew back from Sangli. By Sunday night, the composer was hospitalised in Goregaon due to exhaustion and emotional stress.

His mother, Amita Muchhal, spoke to Hindustan Times that night. She revealed that Palash was shattered by the sudden turn of events and had cried for four hours after the wedding was called off. She also shared that Palash shared a close bond with Smriti’s father and was actually the first one to insist that the wedding should wait until he recovered.

On Monday morning, Palash’s sister Palak Muchhal posted an Instagram message asking to respect the privacy of both families. She confirmed that the wedding was put on hold solely due to Smriti’s father’s health.

Social media guesses (a lot of things)

But the story took another turn on Monday evening, November 24. Fans noticed that Smriti Mandhana deleted all her engagement and pre-wedding photos from Instagram. Soon after, her teammates including close friend Jemimah Rodrigues also removed the videos they had posted from the celebrations.

This sudden online silence led to speculation, including unverified social media rumours claiming Palash Muchhal cheated on Smriti Mandhana with a choreographer, and even their chats leaked. However, none of these claims have been confirmed or addressed by either family.

Until now, neither Smriti nor Palash have personally spoken about the postponement or the removal of the photos. And this has seriously kept everyone guessing about the true situation.
