Rupali Ganguly on Jaya Bachchan: A recent incident involving veteran actor and politician Jaya Bachchan has gone viral online, leaving fans and netizens divided. The incident took place at the Constitution Club in Delhi, where a fan reportedly tried to take a selfie with the actress.
Videos show Jaya, known for her iconic roles in films like ‘Sholay’ and ‘Kora Kagaz’, pushing the fan away in a moment of anger.
The clip quickly made rounds on social media, sparking a heated debate about celebrity behavior in public spaces.
While many criticized Jaya for her reaction, others felt it was understandable for an actor of her stature to expect personal space. Among those reacting to the video was TV actress Rupali Ganguly, famous for her role in ‘Anupamaa’.
Speaking to the paparazzi, Rupali Ganguly shared her admiration for work of Jaya Bachchan, recalling how she first learned about acting by watching her films.
Rupali said, “When I saw Jaya ji, I remembered ‘Kora Kagaz’, a film my father worked on and received a National Award for. Watching Jaya ji perform in that film taught me a lot about acting. I hope I never learn such behavior from her.”

The debate intensified when actor and politician Kangana Ranaut also weighed in. Kangana, known for her outspoken social media presence, did not hold back, calling Jaya “spoilt and privileged” and suggesting that people tolerate her behavior mainly because she is wife of Amitabh Bachchan.
Kangana even made a playful jab at Jaya’s political attire, likening her Samajwadi Party cap to a rooster comb.
Fans and social media users remain divided. Some defended Jaya, saying that years of fame and constant public attention can be overwhelming, and celebrities are entitled to moments of personal space.
Others echoed Kangana’s criticism, arguing that public figures, especially those in politics, must maintain composure in public interactions.
