The controversy started when Peter Navarro appeared on Fox News for a discussion on India’s foreign policy. While praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great leader,” Peter questioned Modi’s global alliances with Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping.

These words did not sit well with many, both in India and abroad. Rupali Ganguly’s post came soon after.
