The Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday sealed a popular nightclub in Sector 26 associated with rapper Badshah after authorities found alleged violations of approved building plans and construction norms.
Officials from the Building Branch carried out the sealing operation in the morning, accompanied by police personnel, after the club management allegedly failed to address irregularities despite receiving multiple notices over an extended period.
According to officials, the establishment had been under scrutiny for deviations from the building plan sanctioned by the administration. The authorities said additional structures had reportedly been created within the premises beyond what had been approved. The club operators were repeatedly directed to remove the unauthorised portions and ensure compliance with regulations, but the required corrective measures were not taken within the stipulated time.
Following the continued non-compliance, a team from the Building Branch reached the site at around 9.30 am and sealed the premises in accordance with municipal and building regulations, officials said.
The club has previously drawn public attention due to a security-related incident that occurred outside the premises nearly two years ago. At the time, explosions were reported outside two nightlife venues in Chandigarh’s Sector 26, causing damage to glass panels and other property.
The incident had triggered a high-profile investigation after social media posts purportedly linked to gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara surfaced online claiming responsibility for the blasts. The posts alleged that the attacks were carried out after demands for protection money were not met.
One of the affected establishments was Seville Bar and Lounge, in which rapper Badshah is reported to be among the business partners, while the other was D’Ora Club. The blasts damaged parts of both properties, though no major casualties were reported.
The social media messages attributed to Goldy Brar claimed that the club owners had been contacted for extortion payments and that repeated calls and messages had gone unanswered. The posts further described the explosions as a warning to those allegedly ignoring such demands.
Law enforcement and security agencies subsequently launched investigations into the matter. However, Tuesday’s sealing action was linked to alleged building regulation violations and not to the earlier security incident, officials indicated.
Authorities maintained that the latest action was taken solely after the club management failed to rectify the identified construction-related irregularities despite being given several opportunities to do so.
