Priya Marathe, ‘Pavitra Rishta’ actor, passes away at 38

Television and film actor Priya Marathe, best known for her role in the hit serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’, passed away in Mumbai on August 31, 2025. She was 38 years old. Priya had been fighting cancer for the past one year and breathed her last at a Mumbai hospital.

Priya Marathe carved her own space in both Hindi and Marathi entertainment.

Born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, Priya completed her schooling and higher studies in the city. She had a love for performing arts since childhood, which eventually led her towards acting. She began her career with Marathi television and made her debut in the serial ‘Ya Sukhanoya’.

Soon after, she gained attention with ‘Char Divas Sasuche’, a popular show that made her a familiar face in households.

Her journey in Hindi television began with Balaji Telefilms’ ‘Kasamh Se’, where she played Vidya Bali. Priya then went on to showcase a completely different side of her talent by participating in the first season of ‘Comedy Circus’.

But it was Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ that brought her nationwide recognition. She played Varsha Satish, a role that resonated with audiences and remains one of her most remembered characters. She later appeared as Jyoti Malhotra in Sony TV’s ‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain’ in 2012.

Over the years, Priya worked in several Hindi and Marathi serials, including ‘Tu Tithe Me’, ‘Jayastute’, ‘Bhaage Re Mann’, and ‘Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap’.

In 2008, Priya acted in the Hindi film ‘Humne Jeena Seekh Liya’. Later, she also worked in acclaimed filmmaker Govind Nihalani’s Marathi movie ‘Ti Ani Itar’, sharing the screen with actors like Sonali Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave, Amruta Subhash, and Bhushan Pradhan.

On the personal front, Priya married actor Shantanu Moghe in 2012. The couple often shared glimpses of their life together.
