With the Bihar Assembly elections just around the corner, the political stage in the state is already facing heat. And now, Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Pawan Singh has added more drama to the mix.

After recently rejoining the NDA and meeting senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah and JP Nadda, Singh now finds himself in the middle of a public controversy involving his wife, Jyoti Singh. The dispute, which began as a personal issue, has quickly turned into a public spectacle.

A few days ago, Jyoti Singh went live on Instagram from outside his residence, accusing her husband of harassment and infidelity. Her emotional outburst drew widespread attention online. Clips of her live stream started circulating across social media.

In response, Pawan Singh took to Instagram on Monday to post a long message in Hindi, attempting to explain his side of the story. In the note, he denied the allegations and claimed his wife was trying to “use him for political gain.”

He wrote that Jyoti Singh had visited his house recently, where the two spoke for over an hour in a “respectful” conversation. “I have always considered the public as God. I can never hurt the people who made me what I am today,” Singh said.

He further alleged that his wife had been pressuring him to help her contest the upcoming Bihar elections. “Her only demand is that I somehow get her a ticket to contest, which is not in my power,” he claimed.

Addressing reports that he had called the police during the incident, Singh said that officers were already present “to ensure no untoward incident took place.”

The controversy comes at a politically sensitive time. Singh, who is a popular Bhojpuri star with a significant following in the region, had rejoined the NDA alliance just last week, hoping to play an active role in the party’s campaign.

However, the timing of the personal scandal has drawn attention away from his political comeback. Many political observers say such controversies could impact the NDA’s image, especially as the alliance faces growing pressure from opposition parties ahead of the high-stakes Bihar polls.

The Bihar Assembly elections for the 18th Legislative Assembly will take place in two phases. First on November 6 and second on November 11, 2025, across 243 constituencies. The first phase will cover 121 seats, while the second phase will decide 122.
