A familiar face from Korean films and TV, Park Dong-Bin, has died suddenly, and the details around his final days are both quiet and unsettling.

The 56-year-old actor was found dead on April 29 inside his own unopened restaurant in Pyeongtaek. The space was meant to be his next big step away from acting and into the food business.

According to reports by The Korea Times, it wasn’t a stranger who made the discovery. An acquaintance who had been helping him set up the new restaurant entered the premises and found his body. Police were immediately informed.

Initial findings have not pointed toward foul play. Investigators who examined the scene said there were no signs of forced entry or criminal activity. At the same time, no suicide note was found either. Authorities are continuing to look into the exact cause of death.

A quiet shift away from acting

In recent months, Park had reportedly been preparing to step away from the spotlight. After years in the entertainment industry, he was planning to open a Korean restaurant and focus on a different life.

He had built a steady career in films like ‘Shiri’, ‘Warriors of the Dawn’, and ‘Volcano High’. The last of these even caught international attention for featuring a cameo from Snoop Dogg.

On television, Park appeared in several dramas over the years. Viewers may remember him from ‘The Age of Rebellion’, ‘Immortal Yi Sun-sin’, and ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. His presence was often that of a supporting character.

The viral moment that stuck

While his filmography was long, one particular scene turned him into an unexpected internet favorite.

In 2012, Park appeared in the drama ‘I Think I Loved You’. In a now-famous moment, his character spits out orange juice in surprise. The clip spread quickly online and earned him a nickname that stuck “Juice Uncle.”

Family, worries, and an honest confession

Behind the scenes, Park’s personal life had its own challenges. He is survived by his wife, actress Lee Sang-yi, who is 12 years younger than him. The two met while working on the drama ‘Enemies in a Previous Life’ and married in 2020.

In 2023, they welcomed a daughter, Ji-yoo. But their happiness came with difficult news. The child was born with a serious congenital heart condition known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

In a 2024 interview, Park spoke openly about it. He explained that her left ventricle and aorta were underdeveloped, and without surgeries or a transplant, her life could be at risk.

He also admitted something deeply personal, his fear of being an older father. At 54, he wondered if he would be able to support his family long-term and stay by their side through everything.
