Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned Odia singer Humane Sagar, who passed away on Monday night while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Governor Kambhampati, in a message on X, wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of eminent vocalist Humane Sagar. His contribution to the world of Odia music and cinema will always be remembered.”
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also shared his condolence, stating that Sagar’s passing is “an irreparable loss to our music and cinema.” He extended his prayers for the departed soul and offered sympathy to the bereaved family.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remarked that Odisha has “lost a shining star in the world of music.” He said the magic of Humane Sagar’s voice would remain “immortal in the hearts of Odia listeners.”
Former Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik said “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Humane Sagar. His soulful music has touched the hearts of countless listeners, and his contributions to Odia music will always be remembered, Patnaik said while praying for the eternal peace of his immortal soul and expressing condolences to the bereaved family during this time of grief.”
The popular Ollywood playback singer, aged 36, had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for multiple health complications. He was admitted on November 14 after a rapid decline in his condition. Doctors diagnosed him with multiorgan dysfunction syndrome, chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, and dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction.
Following his passing, Sagar’s body was taken to his native village, Denga near Titilagarh in Bolangir district, where his last rites are scheduled to be performed.
