Sorry, fans! Eddie Munson’s guitar solo days are officially over.
The creators of ‘Stranger Things’, Matt and Ross Duffer, have finally put an end to months of speculation by confirming that Eddie, played by Joseph Quinn, won’t be making a comeback in the show’s final season.
In an interview with a British film magazine, reported by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, the Duffer brothers laughed off the internet’s endless theories about Eddie’s possible resurrection.
“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Matt Duffer said. “Joe is so busy anyway that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell does he have time to come and shoot ‘Stranger Things’? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”
Eddie Munson first appeared in Season 4 and quickly became one of the show’s most beloved characters. His selfless sacrifice distracting the deadly Demobats so his friends could survive turned him into a legend in the ‘Stranger Things’ universe. Fans have since flooded social media with theories about his survival, from secret resurrections to alternate realities. But the Duffer brothers’ statement makes it clear: Eddie’s story has reached its end.

Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn’s career has skyrocketed since his exit from Hawkins. The British actor has lined up several major projects, including ‘Hoard’, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, ‘Gladiator II’, ‘Warfare’, and ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’. So even though Eddie’s gone, fans will still get to see plenty of Quinn on the big screen.
As for ‘Stranger Things 5’, familiar faces will return to wrap up the epic sci-fi saga. Expect to see Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Joe Keery back in action.
The Duffers also teased a new character played by ‘Terminator’ star Linda Hamilton. She’ll portray Dr. Kay, a sharp and intimidating government agent tracking down Eleven. “She’s a scientist,” Matt Duffer said, “but if she needs to, she can fight and shoot a gun.”
Netflix plans to roll out the highly anticipated final season in three volumes, each landing around a holiday weekend. Volume 1 arrives on November 26, Volume 2 drops on Christmas, and the grand finale releases on New Year’s Eve.
Created by the Duffer Brothers and produced by Upside Down Pictures and 21 Laps Entertainment, ‘Stranger Things’ is ready to close its story with a mix of nostalgia, heartbreak, and plenty of supernatural chaos.
