For the first time in history, Palestine will step onto the Miss Universe stage this November. And, according to Miss Palestine Nadeen Ayoub, it is not just about beauty, it is about survival, dignity, and hope.

Nadeen Ayoub, a Palestinian model and activist, has been chosen to represent her homeland at the global pageant. The Miss Universe Organization confirmed the news on Sunday, saying they were proud to welcome delegates from around the world and highlighting Ayoub’s “resilience and determination.”

This announcement carries special weight. It comes at a time when Palestinians, especially in Gaza, are enduring unimaginable suffering. Food and clean water have nearly disappeared after Israel’s decision to block all border crossings earlier this year.

Between March and mid-May, almost no humanitarian aid was allowed in.

On Instagram, she shared her excitement and deep sense of responsibility: “I am honored to announce that for the first time ever, Palestine will be represented at Miss Universe.”

She added that while Gaza continues to bleed, she will carry the voice of her people with her. “We are more than our suffering. We are resilience, hope, and the heartbeat of a homeland that lives on through us.”

Israel’s ongoing attacks since October 2023 have left Gaza in ruins and the international community questioning the scale of Israel’s response. The death toll keeps rising.
