Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan, famous for soulful tracks like ‘Tum Se Hi’, has turned his musical talent into mission. His latest song ‘Meri Aawaaz’ is dedicated to street dogs in India. The singer revealed that idea struck him after learning about Supreme Court’s order to remove stray dogs from public areas earlier this year.

Meri Aawaaz: A song born from compassion

Speaking to ANI, Mohit shared the emotions behind his composition. “When I heard about the court verdict, it pained me deeply. These animals cannot speak for themselves, and it is our moral duty to care for the speechless,” he said.

Mohit described how witnessing the struggles of street dogs on the streets inspired him to take action through music. “They live in very tough conditions. As humans, we have intelligence and a higher consciousness. It is our responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves,” he added.

Music as a medium of awareness

‘Meri Aawaaz’ is a message. Mohit explained that he wanted the voiceless to have a voice, giving humans a chance to reflect on kindness and empathy.

“This song comes from them, to humans. Life is uncertain, and we only have a limited time to do good. Music can help convey that message and spark compassion,” he said.

The singer emphasised the importance of respecting all life forms, regardless of species. “We should treat every being with respect. Life is fleeting, and we are here for a purpose. Using our time and talents for good deeds is what makes us truly human,” Mohit said.

‘Meri Aawaaz’ is a collaboration between Mohit Chauhan, who composed and performed the song, and lyricist Prarthana Gahilote.
