Minions & Monsters Trailer: The mischievous little yellow Minions are back, and this time, they’re trading Gru’s lair for the glitz and glamour of 1920s Hollywood. Universal Pictures dropped the first trailer during the Super Bowl, giving fans a sneak peek at the chaos awaiting them this July.
Monster-sized adventure
Titled ‘Minions & Monsters’, the new film is the seventh entry in the “Despicable Me” universe and promises a fresh twist on the Minions’ mayhem.
Forget serving their beloved Gru. These tiny troublemakers are setting out on a cinematic journey of their own. Their mission? Scouting the scariest creatures for their very own monster movie.

From sea beasts to a sassy giant pink bunny and even a mummy whose bandages they accidentally unravel, the Minions prove that even the smallest yellow critters can handle big, spooky challenges.
And yes, they’ve teamed up with a mysterious green creature that’s as cute as it is chaotic.
Behind the scenes
The magic comes courtesy of Illumination, led by founder Chris Meledandri and executive producer Bill Ryan (known for ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’). Academy Award nominee Pierre Coffin, the voice behind every Minion since 2010, is back in the director’s chair. Screenwriter Brian Lynch, who’s popular for ‘Minions’ and ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ is also back.
A franchise that keeps growing
The Minions franchise isn’t just cute. It’s a cash cow! Following the blockbuster success of ‘Despicable Me 4’, which raked in $230 million worldwide in 2024, these little yellow mischief-makers have helped the series generate over $5 billion at the global box office.
That makes it the highest-grossing animated franchise ever. This is a title it has held for years thanks to consistent hits like ‘Despicable Me 2’ ($83.5 million on opening holiday weekend in 2013), ‘Despicable Me 3’ ($99 million in 2017), and ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ ($125 million in 2022).
