Colors TV show ‘Mahadev & Sons’ is in the middle of a fresh controversy. A scene between lead characters Dheeraj and Rajji has triggered widespread anger online. Viewers accuse the makers of showing domestic violence and presenting it as romance.

What happened in the scene

The disputed sequence shows Dheeraj, played by Aasim Khan, pinning Rajji, played by Garvita Sadhwani, down on a bed during an argument. Her hand comes into contact with a hot iron kept nearby and she suffers a burn. As Rajji cries out in pain, Dheeraj covers her mouth. He tells her he will never develop feelings for her and that he feels nothing but hatred towards her.

How viewers reacted

The clip spread fast on social media once it aired. Reactions were sharp and immediate. Many users called the scene disturbing. Some said they could not believe what they had watched.

One user wrote that the producer seemed stuck in the past, referencing an older show by the same team. The user pointed out that audiences today are more aware of toxic relationships and abusive family dynamics. The post argued that abuse cannot be dressed up as romantic tension anymore.

Another user expressed shock that the same character who had once protected Rajji from harm was now shown hurting her. The user said such behaviour deserved legal consequences, not a romantic framing.

Across platforms, the core complaint stayed the same. Viewers felt the show blurred line between love and abuse. They said pinning a partner down, causing injury, and silencing her cries should never be packaged as passion.

A pattern, not a one-off

This is not the first time ‘Mahadev & Sons’ has faced criticism for how it handles power and control within the family. The show centres on Mahadev, the family patriarch known for his strict and sometimes violent approach to raising his sons. Past episodes have shown him slapping his children and justifying it as discipline.

The Dheeraj-Rajji scene has reignited that older criticism. Many feel the show has a recurring habit of normalising aggression within relationships, whether between father and son or husband and wife.

As of now, neither Colors TV nor the show’s production house, Parin Multimedia, has issued an official statement addressing the backlash.
