The MTV Video Music Awards are popular for big surprises, and this year, they have added one of the biggest stars to the lineup: Lady Gaga.

The pop icon will hit the stage at the 2025 ceremony, making fans even more excited for the show on September 7 at 8 p.m. EST.

The news comes as no shock, considering Gaga is leading the pack with the most nominations this year. She has earned 12 nods, thanks to her hit singles ‘Die With a Smile’, ‘Abracadabra’, and her much-talked-about new album ‘Mayhem’.

Right behind her is Bruno Mars with 11 nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with 10. Rose has eight, while Ariana Grande and The Weeknd each scored seven.

But Lady Gaga won’t be the only one bringing fire to the stage. A long list of stars has been confirmed as performers.

Hip-hop veteran Busta Rhymes will take home the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, while Ricky Martin will make history as the first artist ever to receive the Latin Icon Award.

Clearly, this year’s VMAs are setting the stage for a memorable night.

Earlier this week, she surprised fans by appearing in Tim Burton’s hit Netflix series ‘Wednesday’. She took on the role of Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious Nevermore Academy teacher whose past connects with Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega.

During the premiere event, Gaga revealed that her brand-new song ‘The Dead Dance’ will release on September 3, dropping the same day as the second half of ‘Wednesday’ season two.
