What happens when two of Indian cinema’s most fearless voices, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap, join forces behind a film that’s already winning hearts across the world? You get ‘Jugnuma’ (titled ‘The Fable’ internationally), a haunting yet poetic story that is all ready to release in Indian theatres on September 12.
Directed by Raam Reddy, the movie takes us back to the Indian Himalayas of the late 1980s. The story revolves around Dev, the owner of a sprawling fruit orchard, who notices something strange: trees in his estate mysteriously burning, one after another.
No matter how hard he tries, the fires keep returning, pushing him to confront not just the flames outside but the ones hidden deep within his own family and self.
Raam Reddy, who made waves with his debut film ‘Thithi’ in 2016, shared his excitement on Instagram: “The flicker of fireflies and a fable as old as time. Presenting ‘Jugnuma: The Fable’, soaring into cinemas September 12.”

Sikhya Entertainment, led by Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor, has partnered as a presenter and executive producer. Anurag Kashyap, known for constantly pushing boundaries in Indian cinema, is also on board in the same capacity.
But ‘Jugnuma’ is no ordinary release. Before arriving here, it has already traveled across the global festival circuit, making a strong impression. The film premiered at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival, won Best Film at the Leeds International Film Festival, and picked up the Special Jury Prize at Mumbai’s MAMI Film Festival.
The Hindi dialogues of the film have been crafted by acclaimed writer Varun Grover. The production is a collaboration between Prspctvs Production, Maxmedia, and Sikhya Entertainment.
