The iconic RK Studio will soon be on sale. Actor Rishi Kapoor recently spoke about selling off the studio, which is owned by the Kapoor family.

Built by Raj Kapoor in 1948, the RK Studio has been in possession of the family ever since.

“We brothers are strongly bonded. But who knows about our children and grand-children? What if differences crop up in the next generation? The studio would only end up in litigation as so many industrial and textile estates have,” said Rishi Kapoor.

“There would be family differences and only lawyers would end up charging heavy sums of fee. Do you think my father would have liked to see his labour of love become the subject of courtroom proceedings?” he added.

The decision was not an easy one for the family, but reports say that everyone in the family is on the same table. Late Raj Kapoor’s wife Krishna Raj Kapoor, sons Randhir, Rishi, and Rajiv and daughters Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain have come together and decided to let go of the property.

Last year a fire broke in RK Studio during the shoot of reality show Super Dancer 2, which destroyed the invaluable treasure of RK Films memorabilia.

The studio was the venue for films like Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, Jis Desh Me Ganga Behti Hain, Prem Rog, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili among others.
