Hrithik Roshan has a message for Rajinikanth: This Independence Day weekend, cinemas will see one of the biggest box office battles of the year as Yash Raj Films’ ‘War 2’ takes on superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film ‘Coolie’.

But before the clash, Hrithik Roshan decided to keep things warm and respectful, as the actor took to social media to send his best wishes to Rajinikanth, who is celebrating an incredible milestone: 50 years in the film industry.

“Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, @rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic!” Hrithik wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The message was a throwback to Hrithik’s childhood acting days, particularly his time working with Rajinikanth in the 1986 film ‘Bhagwaan Dada.’ Fans were quick to appreciate Hrithik’s gesture, calling it a classy move ahead of a major box office face-off.

On August 14, both big-budget films will arrive in theatres, creating excitement across the country.

About ‘Coolie’

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Coolie’ sees Rajinikanth in a striking new avatar as the fearless protagonist. The film features Nagarjuna as the main antagonist and also has a surprise treat for fans; Aamir Khan in a cameo role.

This appearance marks a reunion between Aamir and Rajinikanth nearly 30 years after they worked together in the 1995 film ‘Aatank Hi Aatank.’

The recently released trailer has already generated buzz.

War 2

Meanwhile, ‘War 2’ marks Hrithik Roshan’s return as the unstoppable “nameless, faceless shadow.” The film introduces a formidable new villain, played by Jr NTR, who takes on impossible missions for the sake of the country. Kiara Advani also joins the cast in a pivotal role.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the movie is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘War’, which featured Hrithik alongside Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor. The first installment was a massive success, and expectations are running high for this second chapter in YRF’s spy universe.
