Hollywood star Drew Barrymore opened up about one of the most emotional moments of her life: a sudden cancer scare that left her waiting in fear for days.

The actress, who always brings smiles on screen and on her talk show, shared the personal story in a gentle and honest way reminding everyone how important health checks are and how strong we can be in scary times.

On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, she sat down with comedian Tig Notaro, who knows the subject deeply; Tig had a double mastectomy in 2016 after being diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer.

Drew revealed that she recently got a worrying result during a routine mammogram. “I’m totally okay,” she stressed, but the days leading up to the answers weren’t easy. She explained that doctors immediately took her for a biopsy, and then came the hardest part: waiting for five long days to know if everything was fine.

Describing the moment, she said she wanted to talk about it because many people face similar fears but stay silent. “I had a scare,” she said. “I didn’t know how to bring up this topic on the show… but I feel brave enough now.” Her courage to speak about it was inspired by Tig Notaro’s new heartfelt documentary, ‘Come See Me in the Good Light’ a story of love, poetry, and courage as poet Andrea Gibson battles terminal ovarian cancer, supported by wife Megan Falley.

Drew called the film a powerful and hopeful look at life saying it is full of “courage, humanity, and reality” without feeling heavy. The documentary encouraged her to talk openly and help others feel less alone. She praised Tig and the film for showing what strength looks like in the face of illness.

Along with speaking about health, Drew also touched on another topic many women wonder about: aging. She celebrated her 50th birthday this year and shared her decision to stay natural and avoid cosmetic surgeries. “I haven’t done anything and I want to try to stay that way,” she said. But she also made it clear that everyone should feel free to choose what works for them. “Don’t judge others. We’re all on our own path.”
