Two alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have been arrested following a shootout with Delhi Police’s Special Cell in Paschim Vihar. The arrests close the case, with all four accused now in custody.

The two accused were identified as Haqeeqat and Sagar. Both had been on the run since June 11, when shots were fired outside a gym owned by Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa.

Police said the two came to west Delhi on Wednesday night to carry out another crime. Special Cell teams, acting on specific inputs, intercepted them at the spot.

When they saw the police team, the accused allegedly opened fire. Police retaliated. Both men sustained bullet injuries to their legs and were overpowered. Weapons were recovered from their possession.

The earlier arrests

Two other accused were arrested before this. Arman, 19, and Tushar, also known as Tashu and Pinku, 21, both from Sonipat in Haryana, were picked up by the Crime Branch in Bahadurgarh.

With the arrest of Haqeeqat and Sagar, all four accused in the case are now in custody.

The Bishnoi gang connection

Investigators said all four accused are linked to gangster Anil Pandit. Pandit is believed to be based in the United States and is described as an operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

After the June 11 firing, Pandit put out a social media post claiming responsibility for the attack.

Why Guru Randhawa’s gym was targeted

According to the post, the gym was targeted because of Randhawa’s association with Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The Bishnoi gang has long considered Khan an adversary.

The firing took place outside the gym on June 11. No injuries were reported in that incident.
