Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, hailing from Dosanjha village near Jalandhar, showcased both intelligence and humility on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), where he correctly answered 14 questions and won Rs 50 lakh.

Displaying a generous spirit, Dosanjh announced that he would donate the entire amount through a global Sikh organisation to help flood-affected families in Punjab.

Diljit said he had hoped to win even more for the relief efforts, but time ran out as the buzzer sounded. His arrival on the KBC stage drew loud applause from the audience, while host Amitabh Bachchan greeted him warmly, calling him “Punjab da puttar”.

Bachchan fondly shared his personal connection with Punjab, recalling that his mother, Teji Kaur, hailed from a Sodhi family in the state. He also recounted how his parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Kaur, met.

Throughout the show, Diljit impressed Bachchan with his quick thinking. Without using any lifelines for the first ten questions, he advanced confidently through the rounds.

When told he could regain lifelines by answering correctly, Diljit quipped that he hadn’t needed any yet. Bachchan, amused, remarked that the singer was “not only talented but also remarkably intelligent.”

Among the tougher questions, Dosanjh used ‘lifelines’ for identifying the composer of the Doordarshan theme and for determining under which ruler the Ellora caves were built. Despite a few tricky moments, his composure and charm won over both the host and the audience, making his KBC appearance as memorable as his music.
