Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Satluj’ has leaked online. This happened just hours after the movie was pulled from Zee5. People are sharing screenshots of clips, claiming they are available on torrent sites, Google Drive and WhatsApp.

The Hindi drama is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. It was removed from Zee5 only two days after its India premiere. The platform has not explained why it took the film down. The removal has already sparked a fresh debate. People are talking about censorship, free speech and how hard it is to control content online.

Film finds a second life online, but at what cost

The film now seems to have a second life on the internet.

Several users on X claim the full version of Satluj is circulating widely. One user posted that many attempts were made to stop the film, which was earlier called Punjab ’95. The same user said that after the OTT ban, the story is actually reaching more people, not fewer.

According to this user, a complete copy of the film is being shared on messaging apps. The runtime listed was 2 hours, 29 minutes and 22 seconds. An HD print is also said to be available across various social media platforms.

Diljit speaks out on Instagram live

This alleged leak comes right after Diljit spoke about the situation himself. He held an Instagram Live session on Monday. During the session, he thanked viewers for watching and supporting Satluj during its short time on Zee5. He also spoke about how difficult the journey to release this film had been.

Diljit went a step further. He asked people who had already watched or downloaded the film to share it with others. He said he believes that once digital content is online, it cannot be fully erased.

“Once something is online, it can’t be erased,” Diljit said. He made this comment while talking about the story the film tells and the conversations it has started.

The real story behind Satluj

Satluj was earlier known as Punjab ’95. The film draws from the real life of Jaswant Singh Khalra. Khalra had investigated claims of secret cremations of thousands of unidentified bodies during the militancy years in Punjab. This subject matter is sensitive and has stayed relevant for decades.

The film’s road to release was not smooth. It faced multiple delays over the years before finally reaching audiences.

Honey Trehan directed the film. The cast includes Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. Each of these actors plays a key role in telling this story.
