When Zeenat Aman met Sabyasachi: Some stories sound like they belong in a movie. And when they happen to someone like Zeenat Aman, they feel even more magical. The veteran actress recently shared one such memory, a chance meeting with ace fashion designer Sabyasachi. And, it had all the drama and charm of a Bollywood script.
The actress, who is loved for her iconic roles in films like ‘Don’ and ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, posted two stunning photos of herself in a deep red Sabyasachi top.
The pictures were clicked on her apartment terrace, and alongside them, she narrated the “Bollywood meets Fashion” moment that brought her and the celebrated designer face-to-face.

The story takes us back to November 2022, when Zeenat was celebrating her son Zahaan Khan’s birthday. It was a high-tea affair. While Zahaan and his friends went downstairs to look at boutiques, Zeenat and her friend Cara decided to take their time.

As the two women walked towards the elevator, its doors had almost closed. Suddenly, a graceful hand reached out to stop them. When the doors slid open, Zeenat saw two sharply dressed men inside.
One was a bearded Indian man, the other seemed to be Caucasian. She smiled her thanks as they entered.
From their expressions, she could tell they had recognised her.
That’s when the bearded man spoke. “Ma’am, I’m a big fan of yours. It’s an honour to meet you. You have inspired me since I was a boy,” he said warmly. Zeenat responded with gratitude. He then mentioned that he was a fashion designer.
The lift stopped. Just as she was about to leave, Zeenat turned and asked, “What is your name?”
With a humble smile, the man replied, “Sabyasachi.”
Zeenat, not realising until then who she was talking to, immediately apologised for not recognising the famous designer. He politely took her hand before stepping out.
As soon as the doors closed behind them, Zeenat and Cara looked at each other and burst into laughter at the unexpected turn of events.
Remembering the incident now, Zeenat explained why she chose to share it. The gorgeous red top she was wearing in her new photos was the very same Sabyasachi piece she wore on the cover of a magazine.
“I hope you enjoyed this little Bollywood meets Fashion moment,” she wrote to her followers, signing off.
