Ramayana teaser X review: Miscast Ranbir, chaotic VFX, Adipurush-like mess leave Twitter furious

Fans are divided as the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram goes live on Hanuman Jayanti. From visuals to CGI choices, the teaser is leaving everyone talking, some in awe, others in frustration.

Bollywood’s biggest upcoming spectacle, ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra, finally teased the audience with its first glimpse on April 2, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol in key roles.

Critics are already calling it “divine”

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared his excitement on Twitter, calling the glimpse “breathtaking” and adding, “It’s not just a glimpse, it’s a divine experience…#Ramayana is for generations to come.” He praised Ranbir’s performance: “#RanbirKapoor exudes grace, divinity, and strength. Stunning visuals, groundbreaking VFX, and an electrifying background score — this glimpse is simply spectacular.”

Fans on social media also joined the chorus:

“Man, this Ramayana teaser just hit different — like a punch to the soul. Those visuals? Pure heartbreak wrapped in gold. Blue skin glowing under thunderous skies, bow drawn like it’s pulling fate itself.”

“There is nothing #RanbirKapoor can’t do. Everyone just bow down to the biggest superstar of this generation.”

“They cooked, visually treat! #RanbirKapoor as #Rama was perfect. Hope they improve render, CGI, VFX till release date.”

But not everyone is impressed

As always with hype-heavy releases, the Internet split in two. Several viewers called out the teaser’s visual and conceptual choices:

Visuals that divide opinions

The teaser is undeniably ambitious, featuring scenes of cosmic battles, glowing blue skins, and larger-than-life action sequences. While some call it “a punch to the soul,” others see it as a visual mismatch, comparing it unfavourably to ‘Adipurush’.

Interestingly, the teaser also shows unexpected elements: a flying axe, a tree-flipping stunt, and snow-laden fight sequences which have left traditionalists scratching their heads. The question arises: is ‘Ramayana’ trying to modernise the epic, or simply chasing cinematic wow-factors at the cost of authenticity?

Ranbir Kapoor: Divine or miscast?

Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram has been polarising. Fans praise his grace and intensity, claiming he embodies divinity and strength.

Critics, however, feel that his portrayal, combined with stylised action sequences, turns the revered character into a Bollywood hero in a high-budget fantasy.
