On the 94th birth anniversary of India’s beloved former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff paid a tribute to the visionary leader.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Jackie shared a portrait of Dr. Kalam and wrote, “Remembering Shri APJ Abdul Kalam ji on his Birth Anniversary!”

Dr. Kalam served as India’s 11th President from 2002 to 2007. But he was much more than any other political figure. He was an aerospace scientist, teacher, dreamer. And he believed in the power of youth and innovation.

Popularly known as the ‘Missile Man of India’, Kalam played a key role in developing India’s missile and space programs.

Rising from very humble beginnings in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Kalam rose to become one of the most admired leaders in the country. His words and actions inspired millions to dream big. Even after completing his term as President, Kalam continued teaching and motivating young minds. He passed away on July 27, 2015 while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong.

This year, fans of Dr. Kalam have another reason to celebrate his memory. His extraordinary life is coming to the big screen. A biopic titled ‘Kalam’ was officially announced earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film will feature National Award-winning actor Dhanush in the lead role. He will portray the late scientist and President. Directed by Om Raut of ‘Adipurush’ fame, the movie reportedly aims to explore the lesser-known sides of Kalam as a poet, philosopher, and teacher who combined science with spirituality.

The film is a production of Abhishek Agarwal (Abhishek Agarwal Arts), Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar (T-Series), and Anil Sunkara.
