Long before Farhan Akhtar put three college friends on a road trip to Goa and called it cinema, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was already living that story. The CM recently shared a throwback photograph on his official Instagram account, posing with a group of close friends during what appears to have been a carefree getaway from younger, less eventful days.
Alongside the photograph, Sarma wrote a note that felt less like a politician’s statement and more like advice from someone who has genuinely lived it.
Well years before Dil Chahta Hai was a thing, me and my friends had our Dil Chahta Hai moment!
My young friends, go out, travel, create memories and explore the world, because this time is never going to come back. pic.twitter.com/g0yeSoHgB2

“Well years before Dil Chahta Hai was a thing, me and my friends had our Dil Chahta Hai moment! My young friends, go out, travel, create memories and explore the world, because this time is never going to come back,” he wrote.
The reference to the iconic 2001 Bollywood film resonated widely. ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, written and directed by Farhan Akhtar, starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, is widely regarded as film that redefined how Hindi cinema portrayed youth, friendship, growing up. Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni, Dimple Kapadia played key roles alongside the three leads.

The internet responds
The post set off lively conversation in comments section. One user responded noting that the photograph showed how spirit of friendship and shared adventure existed in Sarma’s life well before the movie gave it a name.
Others, however, could not resist adding dash of wit to the discussion. One commenter brought up Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent advice to citizens and cheekily asked how anyone was supposed to go out and explore the world while staying within those lines.
A more reflective question came from another user who asked whether the CM still stays in touch with the friends in the photograph.
