Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has taken legal action against her husband, Austrian entrepreneur Peter Haag, alleging domestic violence.
The case was filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri, Maharashtra, under the Domestic Violence Act. Celina has claimed emotional, physical, sexual, and verbal abuse, and has sought damages of ₹50 crore for loss of income and other related losses.
The case came up on Tuesday in front of Judge SC Tadye for verification and notice. According to reports, a notice has been issued to Haag, who is currently residing in Austria.
Details of the allegations
Celina, 47, described her husband, 48-year-old Peter Haag, as a “narcissist” with no empathy towards her or their children. She said that his actions forced her to leave their home in Austria and return to India.
In her petition, Celina claimed that Haag restricted her from working and maintained strict control over her financial independence. She added that she was allowed to undertake only small projects, and even those required his permission. She also stated that Haag filed for divorce in Austria earlier this year, in August.
Celina has requested the court to grant her monthly maintenance of ₹10 lakh and to restrain Haag from entering her Mumbai residence. Additionally, she has sought custody of their three surviving children, who are currently living with Haag in Austria.
Family and personal life
Celina Jaitly married Peter Haag in 2011. The couple became parents to twin boys, Winston and Viraaj, in 2012. Five years later, in 2017, she gave birth to another set of twin boys, Shamsher and Arthur. Tragically, one of the twins, Shamsher, passed away due to a heart condition.
Celina has previously shared affectionate posts about her marriage on social media. Last year, she recalled the day Peter proposed to her in Mumbai highlighting how it happened at the same spot her mother had once told her she would find her “right one.”
Celina’s career
Celina Jaitly is known for her work in Bollywood films such as ‘No Entry’, ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, ‘Money Hai Toh Honey Hai’, ‘Golmaal Returns’, and ‘Thank You’. She was also a Miss Universe runner-up.
Legal representation in this case
The actress is being represented by a team from the law firm Karanjawala & Co, which is handling her petition in the Mumbai court. Her claims include emotional and financial abuse, as well as physical and verbal mistreatment, and she has sought compensation reflecting both her personal suffering and professional setbacks due to the situation.
