‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ turns 10: Kabir Khan marks a decade with nostalgic throwback

It has been ten years since ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ first graced cinema screens, yet the film’s emotional pull remains as strong as ever. Released in 2015, the story of a simple man helping a lost mute girl return to her family across the India-Pakistan border struck a chord with audiences worldwide.

To celebrate the film’s tenth anniversary, director Kabir Khan took to Instagram and shared a series of behind-the-scenes photographs from the film’s shoot.

The images, featuring cast and crew moments amid breathtaking landscapes, immediately stirred nostalgia among fans.

“Happy Bajrangi Day!” he wrote, reflecting on the decade gone by. “It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ first found its way into people’s hearts. Over the last decade, I have been overwhelmed by the love this film continues to receive all over the world. We set out to tell a story of love and hope in a world that sometimes forgets these emotions.”

Kabir also mentioned that he still meets people who say the film never fails to make them laugh and cry, no matter how many times they’ve seen it. “That, to me, is the real reward,” he added. “Knowing that Bajrangi didn’t just entertain, it healed.”

Fans quickly flooded the comments section of his post, echoing similar sentiments. “Feels like yesterday,” one person wrote. Another fan called it “one of the best films I’ve ever watched.” Some even asked for updates on the much-talked-about sequel, writing, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, release it quickly! It’s impossible to wait.”

‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ starred Salman Khan as Pawan, the ever-compassionate protagonist, alongside child actor Harshaali Malhotra, whose performance as the mute girl Munni won hearts across the globe.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also played pivotal roles.

Beyond its commercial success, the film became one of the highest-grossing Indian movies of all time.
